TDF Stage 17

Great stage, so strange to see Thor Hushovd out front on a mountain stage, but very cool.  Contador is so gonna win :)  I so love the Schlecks!

stupid Aussie bias

ok so we know Federer is gonna beat Soderling whatever the outcome of this tiebreak, and it is inevitiable that they were gonna cut to the Hewitt match, but why not wait till the end of the set at least? come on, it's very likely to be the end of the match, I don't think most people, even die-hard Hewitt fans would mind missing the first game

yep GSM Roger

it's very annoying to need sleep

Tour de France starts soon, yay!

Wimbledon interviews
[info]albiebly
the quality of the interviews on the Wimbledon site is patchy, I've only read a few but while some are ok this one is really dodgy

David Ferrer - Saturday, 27 June 2009 )

I won't mention the reason for my mood pic

can't believe USA beat Spain, idiots (Spain that is)

also this section of the Wimbledon draw:

probably Davydenko
Berdych
Melzer
Roddick

if Davydenko gets through then they're all on my list
as opposed to a section like this:

probably Murray
Gimeno-Traver or Troicki
Wawrinka or Vassallo Arguello
Cuevas or Levine

where none are (though I do quite like Stan)

the tournament isn't going too bad though - but Safin is an idiot

plenty going on

Wimbledon day two and I find myself in what is a very strange situation for me, actually, kinda, going for Lleyton Hewitt... well he is playing Ginepri who I'm not particuarly a fan of, plus I've gone for him in BOTB so that would be good; and now Ginepri is injured and Hewitt is cruising I would like him to hurry up and finish so I can maybe watch a match I am actually interested in - probably Roddick or Safina if this finishes soon.

It's almost time for State of Origin game 2, come on NSW!

Didn't watch the Wallabies v Italy on Saturday night, mostly coz I share a tv, but I didn't mind too much coz the Wallabies were gonna win (of course) and plus it was almost a second 15

Congrats to Sebastian Vettel for his Silverstone win! - not that it was particuarly difficult for him.

Also big congrats to Michael Caruso for his first V8 Supercar race win!

I can't wait for Wimbledon

it better be shown, hmm I should look that up... can't find it right now, but I assume so... yep seems to be, good.

In other news, looking up teams for the Confederations Cup, don't know if I'll bother watching many of the matches, sleep seems much more important than watching the likes of NZ v SA (no offense to either), especially now I see no Benni McCarthy for South Africa, that's dissapointing. Spain and Italy seem to have good teams despite no Iniesta :(,

oh Oli so close, yet so far :(

The Church at the End of the 20th Century
[info]albiebly

I've recently started reading 'The Church at the End of the 20th Century' by Francis Schaeffer.  It's really got me thinking, although written almost 30 years ago in response to events of the time, it is still very relevant and insightful to our culture today.

a thought that came from the first few chapters

The danger posed to Christianity by science is not that Science will disprove Christianity, it's that it will convince us that it has.

Got to vote, hmm, how do you decide?  I don't know.  At least it in 24 hours it will all be over

Tour de France
[info]albiebly

Arguably the world's toughest sporting event is on.  Again this year I'm supporting Thomas Lövkvist, he's no longer the youngest rider in the race, actually, in this third Tour and having completed the previous two, he's quite experienced compared to the fifty or so debutants this year.  He's not quite so recognisable this year with out the Swedish national jersey, I haven't managed to confirmably spot him yet.  Hopefully soon I'll be able to pick the riders in the pack without seeing the numbers, so far I can pick Thor and big Tom.

God is Love
[info]albiebly

It's common to hear God is love, when we hear this I think it's tempting to think of what we know as love and therefore to think that is what God is like. But really we should think of what we know of God and think that is what love is. Often we have warped view of love and this affects our view of God, but attributing God with our view of love is creating God in our image, which is really creating a false god.

look alikes
[info]albiebly

Is this the type of random thing you put in a lj?

saw a pic of Bernard Fanning promoting the new Powderfinger album and thought 'hey he looks like Sirius Black as portrayed by Gary Oldman in the movie version of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban'.  Having never seen the movie I wasn't sure, but I googled it and yep there is a similarity.
can't be bothered to try to put links in here so if you wanna see for yourself just put 'Bernard Fanning' and 'Garry Oldman' into google image search
